    The Scraper Method

  1. Hairspray buildup can be a problem in a bathroom, and at some point it coats everything, including the toilet seat. There are several ways to remove hairspray buildup from a toilet seat, and one tool is particularly useful if there is a thick coating of buildup: a plastic scraper, such as one used in the kitchen on pots and pans.
  2. Rubbing Alcohol

  3. The buildup can be removed by applying rubbing alcohol to the area. After coating the affected area, use a hot water and soap to wash off the residue.
  4. Baking Soda

  5. Make a paste out of baking soda and water. Apply it to the area and let it sit for a few minutes. Then wash off the paste, along with the hairspray buildup.
  6. Fabric Softener

  7. Combine 1 part fabric softener with 2 parts hot water and apply the mixture to the area. Wipe it off with a rag, then wash the area to remove the solution.
