- Wood filler, also called "wood putty," is used often in woodworking to fill in holes and gauges. It has the consistency of a stiff paste, and it is tinted to match the wood. You can buy wood filler or make some yourself.
- Although you could buy wood filler, it might be difficult to find one that would exactly match the tint of the wood that you are working with for a project. In addition, you may just want to finish the job without having to run out to the store.
- Take sawdust from the wood that you are using for your project. On a disposable surface, use your hands to mix the sawdust with glue until it has the consistency of putty. Press the mixture into the hole or gauge and let it dry.
