Making Bouquets With Fake Flowers
-
The Vase
-
First, prepare the container or vase. Silk, or fake, flowers can be heavy. Place marbles, clay or rocks in the bottom of the vase to keep it anchored. If you don't, the weight of the bouquet will more than likely tip the vase over. Next, place some floral foam on top of that; this is what you will insert your stems into. The floral foam will hold your flowers in place, so they don't slide around and change positions in the bouquet.
Use a wire cutter to bend or clip the wire stems of the flowers as you insert them into the floral foam. You do not want all of the flowers to be at the same height.
The Flowers
-
The flowers you choose for your bouquet will be determined by the function of the bouquet. For weddings, softer colors will be used and roses are a popular choice. For most other bouquets, the following rules apply. Choose large, colorful and round fake flowers as your focal point, and group them in the center of the bouquet. For best results, choose colors and flowers that you will find in nature. For example, bright yellow daisies are common in nature and look real when made with silk. Bright yellow hydrangeas, however, are obviously fake. Behind these flowers, place tall, thin flowers so that they are a bit higher than the center flowers. Choose flowers that will contrast with the round ones both in color and shape. Finally, fill in the gaps with fake foliage and also with small groups of tiny, clustered blossoms. If your container is short and wide, consider covering any visible areas of floral foam with dried moss. Simply use a hot glue gun to glue the moss onto the foam.

Accessories
-
The best way to make a fake flower bouquet seem real is to add real accessories. Try adding dried seed pods, pussy willows, cat tails or corkscrew twigs to the bouquet to give it an authentic touch.
Finally, don't forget the container itself. Add a nice ribbon to the handle of a basket, or wrap one around the neck of a vase. For bouquets that will be wrapped in paper, add a bit of hot glue to the foam, and wrap the paper around that, finishing it off with a ribbon.
