Installing a Kitchen Sink Sprayer
  1. Accommodations for the Sprayer

    • Having a sprayer at the kitchen sink just makes your work there a bit easier. No more trying to fit great big pots under a faucet where they don't fit and ending up with a big mess. You will notice a cap next to your faucets on the sink. This cap is covering a hole that will accommodate your sink sprayer. You may already have a soap dispenser on the sink. There may be a cap next to the soap dispenser or you can easily replace the soap dispenser with a sprayer. This is a do it yourself project that can be completed in a half an hour.

    Installing the Sprayer

    • To install the sprayer you must first turn off the water at the valves under the sink. Open the hole for the sprayer by either removing the soap dispenser or opening the cap over the hole. Then remove the cap from the water output under the faucet. It should be right in the middle of the faucet assembly. Place the holder for the sprayer in the hole and tighten the nut under the sink. Feed the sprayer hose down through the opening and attach the hose to the water line connection under the faucet. Turn the water back on and test sprayer.

Installing a Pull Out Sprayer to a Faucet

    • The installation of the pull out sprayers when incorporated into a faucet is much the same and a separate one. But as you install the faucet assembly to the sink, you will need to feed the sprayer hose right down the center of the faucet. Some manufacturer's recommend using a pipe wrap tape for this installation, so be sure to check your directions. Then a counter weight is placed on the hose under the sink to ensure the proper retraction when you are done using the spraying part of the faucet. You must use care while installing the weight not to crimp the hose and cut off the flow of water. Installing this type of faucet removes the need for an extra hole in the sink for the sprayer.
