    Printers with Built-in Wireless

  1. Many new printers now come with built-in wireless capability. These printers also come with installation CDs. Setting up such printers to work within a wireless network is not complicated. You will need a USB cable to connect the printer to the computer for the set up. Then insert the installation CD that comes with the printer into your computer and follow the on-screen instructions. Be sure to choose the wireless set-up option. If your printer does not come with an installation CD, follow the instruction manual for steps to setting up the printer to print wirelessly.

If you have an old printer that is not wireless capable, you can easily convert it to a wireless printer by using a wireless adapter and installation kit. HP has one with a wireless printing upgrade kit and software CD that is compatible with most PCs. To use this, connect your printer to the wireless adapter using the USB cable. Plug the adapter cable into a power outlet. Then insert the CD that comes with the software kit into your computer and follow the on-screen instructions. Once you complete this setup, your computer is ready to print wirelessly. You will need to insert the wireless receiver (left in picture below) into one of the USB ports on your computer to receive the wireless signal.
