From Quick Guide: Couples Halloween Costumes

    Make a Costume Plan

  1. Figure out what type of costume you want. Are you going to be something traditional like a witch, ghost, vampire or pirate? Or would you like to be something that is popular now? This could be a character in the movies, a television show or comic book. This could also be a real person who is in the news, a famous musician, actor or model.
  2. Set a Budget

  3. There are Halloween costumes available for just about anything you can think of. However, a number of these can be very costly. Some Halloween costumes come with all of the accessories needed; others only contain the main items. Either of these could work. Do you want to spend a lot of money on your costume? How much can you afford? Keep this in mind when buying your Halloween costume. Come up with an estimate for your costume budget.
  4. Bought or Handmade?

  5. Is the Halloween costume you want something that you can buy? Do you want to pay for it, or would you rather make it yourself? You'll need enough time to buy the materials and make the costume. You'll also need time to receive one that you order, if you decide to buy it. There are patterns available to follow to make your own Halloween costume. You could also get items from a costume store, a regular store or a thrift store. Figure out what type of Halloween costume you want.
  6. Putting it All Together

  7. When you have all of the parts of the Halloween costume, try it on. See if there are any adjustments needed. Is it the right size, or is it too big or too small? Will you be able to comfortably wear it for as long as you need to? Can you see easily? Breathe and access your mouth? If it's for a small child or someone who will be walking outside near roadways, is it visible, or should you add reflective tape to it? How does it look? Could you add to it? You may want to buy additional accessories to put the finishing touch on it.
