Try to get hired as an assistant to an existing and successful bridal consultant to learn the daily intricacies that go into planning a wedding. No school can prepare you for everything that goes into bridal consulting better than watching someone who already does it for a living.

Even if you are successful in getting a job as an assistant, don't eschew the educational system. Never underestimate the importance of classes in marketing and accounting. Bridal consultants own and operate their own business and that requires knowledge of bookkeeping, advertising and time management. A degree in management or accounting is not necessary to become a bridal consultant, but it certainly helps.

These programs teach you skills such as how to coordinate showers and receptions, hire professional caterers and photographers and even "how-to" lessons in etiquette.
