Troubleshooting a Kenwood Whirlpool Washer

Washer Stops
-
If your washing machine stops, check to see if the power cord is plugged into a grounded, three-prong outlet. You should also check the electrical source to ensure it's working properly. If you have a fuse box in your home, check to see if your household fuse has blown. If you have a circuit breaker box, check to see if your circuit breaker has tripped. Change the fuse or reset the circuit breaker lever. If the problem is not fixed, call an electrician. There are also certain electrical requirements that must be followed when plugging in your washer. An extension cord should not be used; using one can be highly hazardous. The ground prong must not be removed, and an adapter should not be used. If these warnings are not adhered to, an electrical shock, fire or death could result.
Residue or Lint on Load
-
Experiencing residue or lint on a load can be the result of putting detergent into the dispenser. If you want better results when washing, add detergent to the detergent compartment. Don't add detergent to the washer drum. For better results, make sure you sort your clothing properly by sorting lint givers from lint takers. An example of these are towels and corduroy material. It's also best to sort by color. Overloading your washing machine can also cause residue and lint problems. Give your washing machine a balanced load size so that it can wash efficiently. It's also a good idea to check for items that may have been left in your clothing before loading the washer, such as paper and tissue. To limit lint problems, you should use only high-efficiency detergent and ensure that you have enough detergent and leave it in suspension. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to determine the best amount of detergent to use. Make sure that your water temperature is not too cold, because water that is too cold can't dissolve detergent. Apply and use a suitable washing speed when washing your clothes. Powdered detergent won't dissolve well enough in a low washing cycle. If you want better results, try liquid detergent.
