Laptop problems can be frustrating, but often easy to solve
  1. Overheating

    • This usually happens when you are running a program that is too taxing on the CPU, causing the computer to become too hot and shut down. In most cases it can be avoided by cleaning out your cooling fan, which builds up dust over time. Take a can of compressed air and spray it directly into the heating vents. Follow the directions on the can to avoid spraying liquid into your laptop instead of air.

    Defective Memory

    • Another commonly reported issue with Toshiba Satellite laptops is defective on-board memory. This is usually characterized by random symbols on your screen each time you try to restart your laptop. To be sure that it is the memory, perform the test found in the additional resources section below. If the memory is bad, you will have to replace the motherboard completely.

    Power Jack

    • One of the most frustrating problems with the Toshiba Satellite laptop is the power jack. Because of a faulty design, over time, the power jack on many models of the Satellite laptop begins to loosen. Eventually the the positive pins on the jack no longer keep contact with the motherboard. When this happens, take the laptop to an authorized dealer to resolder the pins of the power jack to the motherboard.
