    Introduction

  1. A fashion designer is someone who creates apparel and/or accessories in the efforts of fashion. Fashion design is considered an art form by many, and the professionals who create it puts hours of work into each design. Fashion designer software is an application that allows fashion designers to put together the different aspects of fashion in order to visualize a finished product. In this article, we will learn more about fashion design and how fashion designer software helps the designer to create a masterpiece.
  2. What is Fashion Designer Software?

  3. Fashion designer software is a type of CAD (computer-aided design) application. Using the assistance of the computer, designers can draw garments, add color, apply textures and create designs. The software works as a click-and-drag operation, where the user doesn't need to have any drawing skills in order to create a visually appealing completed product. The software is preloaded with templates for models, garments, colors and fabrics.
  4. Models

  5. A model is a template, or outline, that a fashion designer uses as a starting point to draw garments. Using fashion designer software, a designer chooses the right model to better showcase her design from hundreds of templates. Design model types range based on sex, age level and size. When designing with fashion designer software, the first thing to do is select a model type.
  6. Items

  7. The next thing to do is decide what type of garment is being designed. There are many different types of garments that fit into several interest areas such as women's day wear, women's evening wear, women's lingerie, men's day wear, men's evening wear, girls' wear, teenage wear, sportswear, knit wear, outerwear, bridal wear and accessories. The software allows the designer to draw the garment on the model using one of the drawing tools or to choose a garment from the presets.
  8. Finishing the Product

  9. After the structure of the garment (dress, shirt, pants, etc) has been drawn and completely shaped, the finishing touches have to be made. Color is a very important aspect of fashion design. The software allows the designer to mix colors to create the color she needs to complete the garment.
The next thing that needs to be decided is fabric. Is the garment made from silk, denim, corduroy or velvet? The software allows the designer to choose a fabric that she wants to create the garment in. After the garment is completed, the designer can save the drawing to work more on later or print it for her portfolio. The printed design is used as a roadmap when the designer goes to buy fabric or as a guide when sewing the live product.
