Before you jump into selling a product or service, you must understand the basic definitions of network marketing. This particular layout of marketing includes a specific process to help others work with you to market your business.
Network marketing is also defined as MLM, or multi-level marketing. This is designed with a main product or service at the top of the business. There are levels incorporated into this, which includes individuals who work within the business as their own business to sell one product or service. This is done by direct sales to the product, as well as getting other individuals involved in the process of selling and marketing the product or service. This allows each individual to branch into her own entity while selling one product or service.
Defining Your Product

If you're starting a network marketing business, you need to begin with finding your product or service. If you have a specific concept you want to develop and sell with your own manufacturing area, you can begin your business this way. There is also the ability to join another MLM area to market a product that has already been developed.
With your own product, make sure you have manufacturing capabilities set up in the beginning so you can meet the demand. After this, find others who would be interested in selling the products with you on the front end. The more individuals you can get to assist you in these initial stages, the easier it will be in the long run--and the more of a chance you will have to grow.
If you are selling another company's product, you will have the same approach but won't need to find a manufacturer for the product. Instead, you will need to set up with others who can assist you with the product.
Get Others Involved

The purpose of network marketing is to have everyone benefit from the sales of a product or service that is being sold. This means you want to find others who are interested in what you are selling--not only to buy the product, but to sell the product for you. When individuals get involved in this way, the profits are split. You receive a percentage for working with the individuals, and they receive percentages for their sales and for recruiting others to sell the product.
You can set up the percentages of the MLM any way that you want. However, make sure that everyone receives the same amount of profits with the products being sold so everyone can enjoy the benefits of being a part of the business.
The profits should include a certain amount that individuals have to pay when they first become involved in the business, as well as a percentage to buy the products that need to be sold. This is paid back through individuals selling the products and by getting others involved in the business opportunity.
