How Does a Babysitting Service Owner Spend a Workday?
-
Day-to-Day Duties
-
A babysitting service owner's days-to-day duties are determined in large part by the size of the service. Some of the activities she has to be engaged in include contact with clients (parents) answering their questions about the service and other customer service duties. She also spends time speaking with and recruiting potential babysitters, interviewing them, checking their references and doing background checks (for full service babysitting services). Some time is also spent coordinating the schedules of babysitters with those of clients to ensure proper matching in terms of client preferences and sitters' availability
Other Tasks
-
As a business owner a babysitting service owner spends a significant amount of time doing the administrative tasks involved in running a business. This include record keeping and bookkeeping that will come in handy during tax time, for example. She also spends some time in advertising and networking to increase the in-flow of clients. For services that get most of its clients online, the babysitter also spends some time either with her webmaster or on her own monitoring and responding to activities of her customers or potential customers online.
