How Does Apple Cider Vinegar Help Acne?

  1. Using apple cider vinegar to clear acne has been a home remedy for many years. The theory is that ingesting apple cider vinegar will help the liver and kidneys detoxify the body---and help clear up pimples.
Using apple cider vinegar externally, it becomes an astringent.
A popular brand of raw, organic apple cider touts that only raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar has enzymes to achieve these results.
  2. Use on the Skin

  3. After cleansing your face with a mild soap such as unscented glycerin or castile soap, dry the skin. Saturate cotton balls with apple cider vinegar and sweep across the areas of your face that tend to break out. Skip any areas that tend to be drier.
Follow up with a light skin moisturizer that is non-comedogenic (does not block pores).
Repeat once or twice more: midday and at night before sleeping.
(For example, if you exercise, cleanse the face and use the vinegar each time.)
  4. Drinking the Vinegar

  5. To use apple cider vinegar internally, add 2 tbsp. of it to filtered water. Drink every morning and once more during the day, between meals.
Add a small amount of maple syrup or stevia (made from a plant) to sweeten the drink.
Apple cider vinegar has vitamins A, C, E, B-2 and B-6. Betacarotene and vitamins C and E are especially good for the skin.
