Troubleshooting a Duo Treat Ice Cream Maker
-
Failure to Freeze
-
In the majority of instances failure of the mixture to freeze is not the fault of the ice cream maker. Instead, this problem is generally caused by the freezer not reaching a cold enough temperature. Remember, the Duo Treat machine doesn't actually chill the ice cream as many other models of ice cream makers do. Instead, it uses the temperature of your freezer to chill the ice cream mixture as it is stirred. The freezer has to reach temperatures at or below 29 degrees Fahrenheit or the Duo Treat machine won't function properly.
Grainy Texture
-
The first potential problem is poor stirring due to low battery power or malfunction. Make sure that the batteries are providing adequate power. If not, change batteries. If your problem still persists, the Duo Treat machine itself may have a problem and require professional maintenance.
Also, make sure that you're using high-quality ingredients. Ingredients of poor quality can cause the ice cream to have a grainy, substandard texture. -
Excessively Hard Ice Cream
-
If the ice cream freezes into a solid block within the Duo Treat Ice Cream Maker, there are several different potential causes. The most common problem is that the machine wasn't stirring at all, due either to no battery power or to malfunction. Make sure the batteries are working and that, with fresh batteries, the machine is capable of stirring.
Make sure that you followed the recommended ice cream mixture recipes closely. A bad mixture of ingredients can freeze solid or fail to freeze at all. Make sure that you use the proper ratios of ingredients to produce good quality ice cream with your Duo Treat.
