A women's ministry is a group of women who come together to encourage each other in living a Christian life. The Bible gives a guideline for older women to teach younger women in the ways of family and godly living. Women's ministries tackle specific challenges that affect the female gender. These challenges include a woman's sexuality, her emotional impulses, her relationship with her husband and her family, and her relationship with God. Women's ministries are always led by women, who can relate to the group on all points. Often the leaders have a seminary degree, but it's not necessary. All leaders should have a spiritual maturity in God, and an honest love for Christ.

Although their main focus is support, women's ministry groups are also called to evangelize and further spread the word of God to others. There are various ways these groups choose to spread the gospel.

    Common Meeting Place

Most women's ministry groups are affiliated with a church. They usually meet at the church for group-related activities, primarily for Bible study. As a standing invitation, the group will invite others to freely come to its ministry meetings. The hope behind this is that a person who does not know Christ will come to a meeting, through invitation by a group member, and hear the gospel. This passive form of evangelism has been effective in spreading the gospel.

    Door-to-Door Witnessing

For those interested in more aggressive forms of evangelism, many women's ministry groups go through a neighborhood, spreading the gospel with each individual household. A small team of two or three women will go out on a Saturday morning and knock on doors. They will speak with whoever opens the door, hoping to share the word of God in a convenient and non-confrontational way that some associate with a traditional church setting. For those who use door-to-door witnessing, they are also equipped with a Bible and a handout or tract to give to the family upon departure.

    Outreach Services

Women's ministry groups also participate in charitable outreach. Some of these services include setting up soup kitchens for the homeless or volunteering at a local hospital. This satisfies Christ's mandate to feed the hungry and clothe the poor. The motivation behind these actions is to extend love and compassion, not to advance a specific agenda. In so doing, those helped will be exposed to the word of God.

    Internet

Women's ministry groups are creating websites to further spread the word of God. These websites establish an online presence and provide resources to seekers. Some of the more aggressive ways women's ministry groups use the Internet is through applications such as YouTube, where they set up and publish videos for the public to watch and comment.
