Using Camelia Oil for Faster Hair Growth

  1. Introduction

    • Camelia oil (or tea seed oil) is an edible substance with a sweet smell. (Do not confuse this with tea tree oil, an essential oil.) It has no harsh chemicals and is gentle on the hair. This oil comes from China where it is the main cooking oil. The oil is also popular in Japanese cooking. But camelia oil has other uses as well. Camelia oil is added to hair care products, moisturizers, soap and even paint. Camelia oil contains Vitamin E and antioxidants and because of these properties the oil is used to help hair grow faster.

    How It Works

    • Camelia oil helps to protect the hair. It contains nutrients like Vitamin E. The oil also has antioxidants which eliminate free radicals that can damage the body. Camelia oil also has the ability to block ultraviolet light so the oil can be used as a sunscreen. The oil blocks UVB light, but not UVA light.

The hair normally grows 1/2-inch each month, but with a good diet and a good hair care regimen, the growth rate can increase. Hair is made of protein called keratin. The follicle or root of the hair is alive, but the hair strand itself is dead. With proper hair care you can improve the appearance of the hair. Camellia oil when applied to the hair can help to give it a sweet smell. The oil also moisturizers the hair and keeps it soft and shiny. One of the causes of problem hair is breakage. Camelia oil eliminates dry and brittle hair and makes the strands stronger. With less hair breaking off, the hair can continue to grow. Camelia oil helps you keep more of your hair by reducing split ends that lead to breakage.

    What to Do

    • Camelia oil is best for people with dry or normal/dry oil. When hair is damp, such as after a shower, put a small amount of the oil in your palm, rub your hands together and then run your hands through your hair to distribute the oil. Massage the oil into your hair. You can do this once or twice a week, but too much oil will weigh down your hair and leave it greasy. Camelia can also be used as scalp massage oil. Massaging the scalp stimulates the scalp, bringing more blood and nutrients to the hair follicles. This increased circulation promotes hair growth. Gently massage the scalp in a circular motion using the balls of your fingers. The massaging action also stimulates the production of natural scalp oils. These scalp oils also lubricate the hair shaft as the oil runs down the hair. Use camelia oil on the ends of your hair as well. This area is where most breakage starts. With continued use of camelia oil, your hair grows faster because the oil helps you to take care of it.
