How Does a Stay at Home Mom Spend a Day?
-
The Job
-
Working and living as a stay at home mom takes dedication and organization. She has the responsibility of meeting the needs of her children, pursuing her own interests and self-care and overseeing the overall functions of the household. Every day is different in the life of a stay at home mom and must be met with flexibility and perseverance.
Daytime
-
A stay at home mom's day begins early, before her children wake up. She may get ready for her day by exercising, eating breakfast and going over the day's activities. If she has a baby or very young children, she will wake them and feed them breakfast. School age children have to be fed, dressed and either driven to school or picked up by a school bus. While children are napping or at school she may refer to her daily planner and organize her day and week. This includes meal preparations for the family, food shopping, cleaning and maintaining the home, making appointments with doctors or teachers when necessary, and following up on any and all issues relating to the children. Many stay at home moms work from home via the Internet, have a home-based business, spend time volunteering and pursue different activities and interests.

Evening
-
When afternoon rolls around, moms with school age children have to make sure their kids are picked up from school and taken to any extracurricular activities. Helping her children to socialize is important, so taking kids to play dates, dance class, karate or school sports is part of a mom's day. Evenings involve dinner preparation and cleanup, assisting children with homework, bathing the kids and making sure everyone gets to bed on time. This is a good time for a mom to take care of herself in the way that best replenishes her. This could include meditation, journaling, a hot bath, alone time with her mate or any other stress relievers that she loves.
Being Prepared
-
A stay at home mom must be ready for anything: children getting sick, appointments and extracurricular activities to keep track of, meal preparation and providing support and care for the kids. These mothers can't forget to take care of themselves as well; they are the keystone of the family and must remember to treat themselves with the same loving care that they provide for their loved ones.
