How Does a Jan-Pro Franchise Owner Spend a Workday?

  1. Typical Work Day

    • Whatever level of franchising you choose, you will spend your workday running your cleaning business, managing staff and offering your services. A franchise owner spends some of his time accepting orders and sending out work crews to cleaning sites, which are often office buildings. He also has to manage his employees, which includes employee development and training and organizing their work shifts.

Part of the Jan-Pro franchise owner's time is spent on marketing and advertising to recruit long-term cleaning clients that are the backbone of the franchise. This includes traditional marketing and networking. He is also involved in other administrative duties typical of managing a small business.

    Owning a Jan-Pro Franchise

    • You can become a Jan-Pro franchise owner either at the unit, associate or master franchise level. A unit franchise acts under the direction of an area master franchise office. A Jan-Pro associate franchise is a medium level franchise usually located in key markets where Jan-Pro does not currently have a presence. The master franchise level is the highest franchising level at Jan-Pro and involves a leadership role especially toward unit franchises. Advanced business experience is needed to join at this level. You also need start-up funds of about $250,000. See a link in the Resources section below for more on becoming a Jan-Pro franchise owner.
