How Does an Avon Consultant Spend a Workday?
-
Door to Door
-
The Avon consultant of old would go door to door, meeting with customers whenever possible. However, as trends changed and more women began working outside the home, the door-to-door strategy became less effective. Avon is about meeting people. Anytime, anywhere. Avon consultants spend much of the workday simply networking, spreading the word about their business, and bringing in new clients, wherever they happen to be.
Word of Mouth
-
Word of mouth selling is one of the most effective ways to get noticed, without having to do a lot of footwork. Avon consultants will often enlist the assistance of their best customers to help get their name into the community and further. Customers are given several business cards and several copies of the current campaign catalog, which they then take with them to work, school and church to help draw in new customers and bring in more orders.

It's Party Time
-
Avon consultants today will throw parties, in their own home or that of a client. Parties can include makeovers, product demonstrations, handing out samples and prizes, and of course earning more business by taking orders.
May I Take Your Order?
-
Apart from selling, the Avon consultant also must take the orders, send them to the fulfillment center and then distribute the orders when they arrive. Distribution involves sorting and packaging each customer's order, including inserting sales fliers and samples, and completing the invoice paperwork for each order.
Making Connections
-
Avon consultants also take part in training through Avon, attend workshops, seminars and networking sessions where they can continue to improve upon themselves, and learn strategies for increasing their sales and growing their business.
