How Does a Beard Trimmer Work?
-
Introduction
-
Many men shave. That's true even for individuals with beards. While beards is generally considered to be the absence of shaving, such facial hair still requires grooming and trimming. Beard trimmers allow individuals to quickly and efficiently groom their facial hair.
How A Beard Trimmer Works
-
Beard trimmers function in much the same way as electric shavers. Unlike electric shavers, the rotating razors are placed at a higher level in order to keep the length of hair. In general, beard trimmers consist of either rotating or oscillating razors protected by a perforated shield. These razors are connected to a hand held electronic device. The individual guides the device along the edge of the beard. As hair comes in contact with the device, hairs slip through the perforated shield. Behind this shield lie the razors, which cut the facial hair evenly for a smooth trim. The shield protects the individual from the razors if the trimmer comes in contact with bare skin.

Choosing the Right Beard Style
-
Grooming a beard requires a steady hand and an eye for what the intended end result should be. Beards should accentuate an individual's positive facial features, and they may sometimes used to hide less positive facial features. Many hair dressers and salons can help an individual choose the appropriate style, length and cut of the beard. For example, beards can either run along the edge and side of the jaw, or they can reach higher and encompass more of the cheekbones.
How to Trim a Beard
-
An individual should first shave the bare areas of his facial skin with a traditional razor or electronic shaving device. The face and facial hair should then be dried before applying the beard trimmer. For the most accurate trim, a beard trimmer should be used in the same direction that the beard is growing. It is best to go slowly. It is easier to trim more when needed than to try to cover up a patch that has been cut too closely. Finally, use a pair of sharp scissors to trim areas that are hard to reach with a beard trimmer, such as near the ears or at the edge of the chin.
