The Power Wheels Jeep works by a specially-designed battery for the Jeep. The typical Jeep Wrangler designed for two to six years old is powered by either a potent 6- or 12-volt rechargeable battery. This super volt battery empowers the Jeep to move in forward motion between 2.5 mph and 5 mph and, generally, 2.5 mph in reverse motion. The Jeep also consists of big, treaded tires which enable the vehicle to ride effortlessly over bumpy grounds. The Power Wheels Jeep consists of electrical wiring that runs throughout the Jeep so that all the various components and features will work properly. In addition, there is also wiring run from the battery to the accelerator pedal. When pressure is placed on the accelerator pedal, the power from the battery causes the Jeep to move forward. When the Jeep is placed in the reverse mode, and pressure is placed on the accelerator, the Jeep moves in reverse. The battery for the Jeep only runs for a couple of hours and after that it must be plugged into the charger to be recharged. This recharging process generally takes a couple of hours as well.

The Jeep Hurricane also comes with a super 12-volt rechargeable battery that empowers the SUV to move between 2.5 and 5 mph in forward motion and 2.5 in reverse. The Power Wheels Jeep Hurricane also has a power lock brake system that allows for graceful, easy stop and go driving for its little drivers. The vehicle is also equipped with a high-speed lock-out system so that beginners and young drivers do not go too fast.
