How Does a Professional Bowler Spend a Workday?
-
Physical Training
-
A professional bowler spends several days in a row bowling game after game. It is not uncommon for the bowler to play up to 50 games in three days. This constant bowling requires strength. This is one of the reasons that bowling is considered a sport. A professional bowler spends part of his day working out and building up his strength. Some professional bowlers hire trainers, but it is not necessary.
Practice
-
Once a professional bowler finishes his workout, he can move on to practicing. Practice improves the skill level of the bowler. The professional bowler must work on his aim, knocking different spare set ups down and angling. There is always room for improvement and it is not uncommon for a professional bowler to spend several hours per day practicing the game. Sometimes a professional bowler will practice by scheduling some time to bowl others for fun.

Making Travel Arrangements
-
A professional bowler goes all over the country to compete in different tournaments. The bowler is responsible for making his own travel arrangements. Some ways that a professional bowler can travel are by camper, airplane, train, car and bus. Tournaments last for several days and accommodations can get expensive. A bowler may opt to get together to make arrangements and share rides and hotel rooms.
Equipment
-
The professional bowler will keep up with any new developments in equipment, such as bowling balls, gloves and shoes. He does this through Internet research, newsletters and magazines, such as "Bowling This Month." A professional bowler will examine his current equipment and make sure it is in excellent shape for tournaments. If it isn't, he will replace the equipment and spend some time getting use to it before the tournament.
Matches
-
Finally, the professional bowler spends time on the actual matches. Games are bowled over the course of a few days. Bowlers play seven games with the bowler who wins four games moving up to the next part of the competition. This continues throughout the day with breaks for lunch and dinner. Winners of the competition win trophies and cash prizes. The best of the best bowlers are asked to join the PBA tour.
