  1. Hardware Specifications

    • Sony Computer Entertainment's PSP hand-held video game console (officially called the PlayStation Portable) was released in North America in September 2005. It features a 333 MHz CPU, 2 MB of VRAM, and 32 MB of main RAM. It plays games designed to run on the PSP, but also a wide selection of movies produced on UMD disc. The games and movies are available at most electronics retailers.

    Internet Browsing

    • One widely used feature of the PSP is its wireless Internet browsing capabilities. The included browser has three modes--"Normal" displays web pages with no changes whatsoever; "Just-Fit" shrinks some features of web pages so they are more easily viewed on the smaller PSP screen; and "Smart-Fit," which displays features on web pages in the exact order they appear in the page's HTML code, with no regard for things like columns in the page design.

    Remote Play

    • With the "Remote Play" feature, the PSP has been designed to work in conjunction with Sony's own PlayStation 3 home video-game console. Remote Play allows a PSP user to use many features of her PS3 from a "remote location" using only both consoles' wireless Internet connections. A PSP user can access photos, listen to music and watch videos stored on the PS3's hard drive, all from anywhere with an Internet connection. The Remote Play feature also allows a user to turn on and off her PS3 from any location.
