How Does Shopping at Warehouses Save Money?
-
Food and Nonperishables
-
Warehouses such as Costco, B.J.'s and Sam's Club sell food and nonperishable items at a discount. The catch is that you must buy the items in bulk. This may not save you money the first few times you go shopping, but it will save you money over the course of the year. For example, Costco sells a 30 pack of Bounty paper towels for $55.89. ShopRite sells them individually for $2.29. 30 single rolls would cost $68.70. That's a savings of over $10. Now imagine you purchase 30 items that each save you $10. That's a total savings of $300.
Clothing and Accessories
-
Clothing is also sold in warehouses. The only bad thing about this is that particular brands may be there one day and not the next. If you are not picky about your brand names there are plenty of great clothes available at discounted rates. Accessories such as luggage sets are also cheaper. A four piece luggage set can be purchased at Costco for $129 while a comparable set sold at department stores for $200. That's a savings of $71!

Gift Cards and Tickets
-
You can save money at warehouses buying gift cards and tickets. Gift cards such as a $50 iTunes gift card are sold for $46.99 at Costco. Regular grocery stores charge the full $50 for the same gift card. Members of the warehouse clubs can also purchase movie tickets, theater tickets and amusement park tickets at a discount. You can even get a discount on tickets to the Disney theme parks.
Toys
-
Warehouses can often provide nice discounts on children's toys. For example, Sam's Club sells a Hannah Montana keyboard and guitar set for $39.99. The keyboard itself retails for $59.99. The great thing is that warehouses may not have a name brand product in for very long, but when they do the prices are a steal. They always have some name brand toys for sale, but different name brands are available at different times of the year.
Gas
-
You can save money on gas by shopping at warehouses two different ways. Doing all of your shopping in one store instead of driving to three or four stores saves you gas money from a shorter trip. You can also warehouse shop once every 2 weeks for all of your needs rather than go to a normal grocery store every week. Over a year you could save two tanks of gas.
The second way you save money on gas is by purchasing your gas right there at the warehouse. Almost all warehouses now have gas stations. These gas stations provide gas at about 10 cents a gallon cheaper than regular gas stations.
