Always get your elliptical machine installed and assembled by a professional. If you don't tighten the components correctly or if you set up the elliptical machine wrong the first time, you could ruin the machine or provide an unsafe environment if someone uses the machine. Wobbling can sometimes be remedied by placing a rubber mat underneath the elliptical machine, to prevent slipping and level out an uneven surface. If your elliptical machine is still squeaking after the addition of a rubber mat underneath, have your elliptical machine looked at by a professional before further use.

Your elliptical machine will stay in its best condition when an elliptical cover is placed over the machine while it is not in use. Elliptical machine covers may be difficult to find at your local gym equipment store, but it is worth it to purchase one on the Internet or to make your own, as it protects the machine from dust and debris. Always unplug your machine before placing the elliptical cover on top of the machine.
Squeaking should be kept to a minimum if your elliptical machine is greased frequently. Every month, if the machine is used frequently, apply grease liberally to the joints and attachment bolts. You can purchase grease specifically made for elliptical machines, but industrial grease or WD-40 will work just as well.
