How Does FrontPage Work?

Overview of Microsoft's FrontPage
-
If you're familiar with Microsoft's applications, such as Word and Excel, then you will appreciate the feeling of synchronicity you experience when you open up Microsoft FrontPage. What you'll see is an interface much like Microsoft Word, but augmented to accommodate features that reach far beyond the scope of word processing attributes. If you're squeamish about learning new programming code, fear not. FrontPage allows you to process web pages on a graphical user interface, so that what you see on the page is what you'll see on the web. If you aren't completely sold yet, consider the numerous wizards and templates Microsoft has provided for your web designing endeavors. FrontPage comes with full support, including scripting and site management. Take advantage of content consistency by utilizing built in CSS support features. With all of these great web coding tools and support features, it's no wonder why FrontPage is so popular for web page creation.
The dynamics of FrontPage in a glance
-
FrontPage allows the user to make changes to one page, and not have to touch other linked pages. For example, a user can change the URL, the address for a web page, and FrontPage will automatically update all pages that have a link to the URL. If FrontPage didn't have this kind of built-in function, the user would have to change the URL in all the links, on all of the pages in the website. To make things even easier, users can access their website from any location on a different computer and make changes without having the original file. A password is created that allows you to log in to your website. Of course, you'll need FrontPage installed on any computer that you use to make changes to the web pages.

Similarities and differences between FrontPage and other web applications
-
Other applications can be displayed on FrontPage's interface, including Access and Excel. As well, Dream Weaver's web templates are compatible with 2003 version of FrontPage.
Like Dream Weaver, Microsoft FrontPage gives you the option of looking at a split window interface. In the split window interface, you can see the visual layout of a web page and the code that runs behind the scenes. The difference between these two programs in regards to the split window interface is the way FrontPage is a user interface that maintains consistency with the layout in other Microsoft Office applications, thus making it easier for users who are already accustomed to working with Microsoft products.
