A Late Morning

A go-go dancer's day starts out later than most other people's, especially if dancing is her solitary job. Since most dancing jobs end late at night, wake-up time may not be till 11 a.m. or noon.
A dancer starts her day just like many other people. She wakes up, gets something to eat and checks her email. Once she's fully awake and ready, she'll probably go to the gym. It's necessary to have a toned body to be a go-go dancer, so working out is absolutely essential.
After an hour or so at the gym, our dancer may take care of errands. Food shopping, trips to the bank and excursions to find new outfits are always high on the list. After that, it's on to the afternoon tasks.

Our dancer decides to take a hip-hop dance class once a week to keep her in shape and teach her new steps that can impress possible employers. After the class, her muscles are warmed up, and she goes home to get ready for her audition later that afternoon.
She gets to the audition warmed up and in tip-top shape. Her hair and makeup are perfectly done, and she's wearing a figure-enhancing outfit that's more toned-down than her full club wear, but still stage-worthy. The club promoters watch each girl and guy as they dance for about 5 minutes. She hands in her resume and talks to them about her experience. They decide to try her for a Thursday-night party that will pay about $300 for four 20-minute sets.
Pleased about the audition, our dancer heads home and takes a nap in order to be fresh and energetic for her evening of work to come.

Nighttime is Work Time

The dancer arrives at work that night around 10 p.m. The nightclub is already open, but dancers aren't due on stage until about midnight, when the club starts to become busy. She brings her makeup kit, four different costumes and some wigs to add variety.
This particular club has four different dancers who work in several sections of the club. They dance in cages and on raised pedestals. There are always bouncers nearby to make sure the ladies aren't harassed by rowdy club guests. The dancers are always escorted to their posts for the same reason.
She dances her first 20-minute set out of four, pausing every so often for a drink of water. It's a busy night, and the crowd has great energy. It's only her first night of work out of three, however, and she knows she has to rest well in between jobs in order to give her all.
At the end of the night, our dancer waits for her pay. Some clubs pay by check every 2 weeks, but this one happens to pay cash every night. She receives an envelope full of money, with a little extra because the party has been turning a healthy profit. A bouncer walks her to her car and she goes home to rest up for the next night of work.
