What are Hidden Object Games?
-
Hidden object games are quite popular in online, downloadable and software versions. There are literally hundreds to choose from, and most have some type of storyline or plot, as well as mini games and different options to choose from.
How Do They Work?
-
A hidden object game works by letting the gamer try to find certain objects that are hidden on a screen. These usually start out quite simple, but as the game progresses, they become harder to find. There are many versions of hidden object games. Some have side games in between finding hidden objects, while some have intricate plots you must follow. Hidden object games that have plots will include different scenarios that you must complete along with finding the hidden items. What you will do when playing a hidden object game is find the object on a list that is given to you. The hidden object game works by allowing you to click on the correct objects and penalizing you for clicking too many times on incorrect objects. There will be hints throughout the game if you are stuck trying to find a certain object. Some have a certain number of hints that you will receive, while others allow a new hint after a certain length of time has passed. Others will have the gamer find different hidden objects that appear throughout the game such as certain jewels or question marks. These are not counted towards the number of items you must find, but they will allow you to utilize the hints button more often. As you find correct objects, the storyline in the game will progressively get more difficult but more of the plot will unfold.
