How Does Allergy Affect a Person?

Genetics and Allergies in Families
-
People can be allergic to virtually anything, it just depends on what stimulus makes that person's immune system react inappropriately. This can be at least partly determined by family genetics. It is quite common for children to have allergies if at least one of their parents have them also. The immune system of an unborn child is very fragile and tendencies toward allergies can be developed while still in the womb. Although, exposure to common allergens soon after birth can cause the opposite effect and actually 'cure' the child of reacting to those types of allergens as the immune system matures.
The Immune Reaction to Outside Stimulus
-
Allergies affect different people in different ways but there are common symptoms that speak of allergic reaction, which is merely the effects of the immune system malfunctioning to a stimulus. Sneezing is a common symptom, so is a stuffy or runny nose, coughing and an unpleasant condition formally known as post nasal drip, which in reality is mucus from the nasal passages running down the back of your throat. This mucus is poisonous and can actually create temporary digestive disorders such as, upset stomach, diarrhea, and constipation.

Why are you Crying?
-
That familiar itchy eye feeling is a common symptom of an allergic reaction. It's not necessarily something wrong with the eye itself, but most likely a problem within the sinus cavities. The same is true of itchy sensations within the nose and throat, which can be very miserable symptoms. The eyes water, they get inflamed and swollen, making the allergic person look like he or she is crying. It does not take long to figure out if you are allergic to something because exposure to that allergen results in an immediate reaction.
