How Does an Internet Proxy Cloak an IP Address?

  1. The Internet Proxy is Configured and Connected to the Internet

    • The Internet proxy server is connected to the Internet and assigned a bank of IP addresses, one for incoming traffic (users wishing to conceal their identity) and one that is public to the rest of the world. The Internet connection is generally established at T1 or higher speeds to ensure a smooth, efficient user experience. The device itself is also configured with ample amounts of memory and processor power as incoming and outgoing Internet traffic must be processed by the device for each user.

    Users Connect to the Proxy

    • Once the proxy is connected to the Internet, a domain name is bound to the IP address for incoming traffic through a standard domain registrar such as GoDaddy or Network Solutions. With a domain name, users can begin surfing to the proxy device for anonymous surfing.

Internet Traffic is Processed Through the Proxy

    • Once users are connected to the proxy device, further Internet queries, surfing and inquiries are conducted directly on the proxy server. The server then forwards the Internet activity to the Internet using its own private internet protocol (IP) address, creating the illusion that the Internet traffic is originating directly from the server; this illusion conceals the end user's identity.
