    Durability

  1. Trex decks are typically more durable than a regular deck. Standard wood decks are gradually damaged by weather, including the sun, water, snow and temperature changes. Trex decks are made of composite materials that withstand the elements much better than wood.
  2. Maintenance

  3. Regular decks must have regular maintenance, including weatherproofing, staining and occasional refinishing. Trex decks do not require such maintenance, other than an occasional cleaning. The reason Trex decks don't need the same maintenance as regular wood decks is that they are made of both wood and plastic, which increases resilience.
  4. Splinters

  5. One big difference between Trex decks and regular decks is the former's lack of splinters. If you like to go barefoot or you have children, this can be a major consideration. Regular wood decks, even with proper sanding and maintenance, will produce some splinters. Trex decks will not.
  6. Environmental Concerns

  7. Trex decks are made from recycled materials, including recycled wood and recycled plastic. Unless they are made from certain types of wood, most regular decks come from limited resources.
  8. Beauty

  9. Although a Trex deck has many superior qualities, many people feel there is nothing like the beauty of natural wood. Trex decks come close to looking like natural wood, but try as humans might, there is just no copying Mother Nature.
