Viagra's was designed for men with erectile dysfunction. Since its FDA-approval 1998, Viagra has been prescribed to millions of men. For them it increases the blood flow to the penis and causes an erection.
In small studies, Viagra has been found to increase the sexual drive of women who are taking anti-depressants. Physically, the pill sends more blood to the clitoris.
Viagra is available via prescription only, and women may have a tough time getting a prescription because the pill is designed only for men at the moment. - Although it has not been officially cleared by the FDA, the popularity of Viagra in women has gotten some companies researching a sexual dysfunction pill for women. In studies, the pill has been somewhat effective increasing the sexual arousal of women who are taking anti-depressant medicines. Other women who have had cancer or hysterectomies may have a decreased libido and Viagra may help stimulate their arousal as well as their physical enjoyment of sexual activity through an increase in blood flow to the sex organs.

Possible side effects for men include headaches, muscle pains, cramps and indigestion from taking Viagra.
It is possible that women could face the same side effects, but this has not yet been studied.
