How Does a Dog Get Required Vitamins?

    The All-Important Vitamin

  1. Just as in humans, vitamins are very important when it comes to the health and long life of a dog. While dogs are bred and and have evolved into house pets, they are from an evolutionary chain in which they lived in the wild and off the fruits of the land. With wild prey and vegetation, a dog was certain to get the vitamins and minerals they needed for survival. But today's dogs, though they may have many advantages, are dependent upon their owners to provide them with the nutrition they need.
  2. Nutritional Supplements

  3. Supplying your dog with a supplemental multivitamin is very important to the longevity and health of your canine. This is particularly true the older and/or more active your dog is. When looking for a multivitamin, know that they are not all created equally. Make sure to read the labels and see to it that vitamins A, B, D, and E are included in the formula. A and E are especially important to boost your dog's immune system. The B vitamins are crucial to a dog's energy levels.
  4. Good Quality Foods

  5. Though it may seem hard to believe, there really is a difference between the various brand of dog food on your supermarket shelf. Price can usually help you to determine which foods are better than others. This is one of those few areas where price corresponds directly to quality. Your dog can surely live quite nicely off the cheapest brand on the shelf, but he will be missing out on a host of important vitamins. Read labels, just as you would for your own food.
