- Cornhole is the horseshoe game of the twenty first century. Played during family gatherings or in tournaments, the game of cornhole has become one of the most widely played outdoor games in the United States. This game, which originated in the Midwest, can be played by men and women of all ages and skill levels. The concept is simple: toss the bag into or as close to the hole as possible in order to gain points. The team that reaches 21 points first wins.
- Playing the game of cornhole requires four people, two cornhole boards, eight cornhole bags, and a flat surface at least 30 feet long. The boards are placed at the opposite ends of the level playing surface with the fronts not further than 24 feet from each other. Each team gets their own colored bags which they attempt to toss into the board on the opposite end of the playing field. If the throwers foot passes the front edge of the board it is considered a foul and the team forfeits that turn. Each team takes turns tossing bags in a rotation. When all the bags have been thrown by both teams the game is then scored.
- The amount of points a team scores in each round depends on the closeness of the bags to the hole in the top center of the board. The score for the round is based on the difference between the two players. For instance, player A tossed his four bags and two land on the board and one lands in the hole. This player receives 1 point each for the bags on the board and 3 points for the bag that landed in the hole. The total score for player A is 5 points. Player B who is on the opposite team tosses her four bags and two go in the hole but the other two land on the ground. Player B receives 3 points each for the two that go in the hole, giving her a total of 6 points. The difference in score is 1 point, which means team B earned 1 point in the round.
