- First, you need to load your dishes into the dishwasher. The dishwasher shelves have spaces that separate the dishes. Be sure to only put one dish per section so that there will be space in between the dishes for the water to clean the surfaces. Likewise, do not stack cups and bowls, but separate them by placing them face down so that each surface is exposed to be cleaned.
- After the dishes are placed in the dishwasher, the soap is manually added into the dispenser cups. One cup is open and is used to pre-wash the dishes. The other cup is sealed after the detergent is inserted and it pops open during the main wash cycle by the start knob that turns as the wash progresses.
- The dishwasher is closed and the wash cycle is selected. Options will be based on temperature, and length of wash. A pot scrubber selection will mean the dishes are pre-washed and then washed for an extended length of time.
- The dishwasher sprays hot water mixed with detergent onto the dishes. The water travels through the center column and into the upper and lower spinning arms onto the dishes. It washes the soap into the chamber where the soap and water mixture then sprays onto the dishes. Next clean water is sprayed onto the dishes to rinse of remaining residue and soap. This process is completed again in the main wash, sometimes numerous times depending on the type of dishwasher and the setting chosen.
- Most dishwashers have an additional rinse cycle which uses the rinse aid product that is administered into the rinse cycle chamber of the dishwasher once a month. The final and optional cycle of the dishwasher is the heat cycle, which helps to dry the dishes faster.
