Holland, also commonly known as the Netherlands, is a small country located in Western Europe. Holland's mixture of cultures makes it an interesting and diverse place to live, work and visit. Holland, Michigan, located in the southwest part of the state, near Lake Michigan, is a favorite of summer visitors. The area, settled in the 19th century by Dutch immigrants, still has a flavor of the old country. The most popular time of year to visit during the annual Tulip Time Festival, held each May.
