    • What Causes Global Warming and How?

Debating the cause of global warming can generate passionate disagreements. No matter your stance on the issue, there are some accepted scientific theories that explain global warming and climate change. Explaining what causes global warming and how can only be addressed while considering the endless amount of feedbacks involved in... more »

    • About Global Warming

Throughout the long course of Earth's history, there have been periods of temperature extremes that have resulted in ice ages or periods of hot, arid temperatures across the globe. Some scientists today say that we are witnessing a global warming, and while it is not certain whether it is caused by man or nature, most agree that it is... more »

    • Global Warming Facts for Kids

Children can be educated about global warming and climate change. If we teach children environmentally healthy habits now, then they will develop life-long green habits. Teach children by example--encourage them to recycle by doing so yourself. When you use energy-efficient products, or turn off the lights when you leave a room,... more »

    • What Is the Major Cause of Global Warming?

Global warming is a huge concern for leaders and citizens worldwide, and a big part of this concern stems from the fact that humans themselves have created the global warming problems. The main cause of the warming is from CO2 emissions, but they break down into several factors that contribute to global warming. more »

    • Effect of Global Warming on Animals

In 2008, efforts were made to list the polar bear on the Endangered Species List. This move was undertaken not because of over-hunting but because the ice they stand on has been shrinking every year. This much-publicized effort highlighted the effect that global warming will have on the animal kingdom, effects that are just as... more »

    Global warming

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earths near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation. Global surface temperature increased 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) between the start and the end of the 20th century."grida7" /> The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes that most of the observed temperature increase since the middle of the 20th century was caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases resulting from human activity such as fossil fuel burning and deforestation."grida7"/> The IPCC also concludes that variations in natural phenomena such as solar radiation and volcanoes produced most of the warming from pre-industrial times to 1950 and had a small cooling effect afterward.Hegerl-2001/>"Ammann-2007"/> These basic conclusions have been endorsed by more than 40 scientific societies and academies of science, including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries."joint-academies"/>

Climate model projections summarized in the latest IPCC report indicate that the global surface temperature will probably rise a further during the twenty-first century."grida7"/> The uncertainty in this estimate arises from the use of models with differing sensitivity to greenhouse gas concentrations and the use of differing estimates of future greenhouse gas emissions. Some other uncertainties include how warming and related changes will vary from region to region around the globe. Most studies focus on the period up to the year 2100. However, warming is expected to continue beyond 2100 even if emissions stop, because of the large heat capacity of the oceans and the long lifetime of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere."Archer-2005"/>solomon-2009/>

An increase in global temperature will cause sea levels to rise and will change the amount and pattern of precipitation, probably including expansion of subtropical deserts."Lu-2007"/> read more at » http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global+warming
