Transmissions are connected to the back of a car's engine and send power from there to the drive wheels. Unlike manual transmissions, automatics don't need a clutch to stop power flowing to the engine when switching gears. Typically automatic transmissions are separated into two categories: front or rear wheel drive. Transmissions in these two categories might be fully automatic, semi-automatic or constantly variable.
Stage 1 and stage 2 are terms used by people who are interested in high-end auto upgrades. Cubic centimeters (cc) and horsepower are not directly correlated. Engine cylinder volume is measured in cc, while horsepower is based on output from an engine over a set time. However, both cc and horsepower are used to describe the power of a vehicle. The higher the cc, the greater the power. The same applies to horsepower. This link between the two makes it possible to roughly figure out horsepower from cc.
A stage one clutch is an aftermarket upgrade to the transmission system of a car. An aftermarket clutch allows for quicker gear engagement while shifting and is a necessity if your car's horsepower has been upgraded.

The 1973 oil crisis killed the muscle car, but the Mach 1 lives on in the smaller Mustang II.

With the debut of the automatic in mass-produced cars, the manual became the base standard transmission. The automatic was a higher priced option. Today, several different types of transmissions are available that give drivers the best of both versions.
