  • How to Change Ceiling Flush Mount Light Socket

Most modern ceiling light installations have flush mount fixtures. In this configuration, the outlet box and wiring connections are recessed into the ceiling so the light fixture mounts flush with the surface of the ceiling. When installing a ceiling light fixture or retrofitting a new fixture, you should give consideration to the weight of the fixture. Heavy fixtures require the outlet box to be mounted directly to a joist in the ceiling. Also check local codes to verify that solderless connections are permitted and, if so, use screw-on wire connectors.

  • How to Mount Ceiling Lighting Flush in a Bathroom

Mounting a new ceiling light can dramatically improve the look of a room with relatively little work or expense. Modern ceiling lights come with mounting brackets that are designed to fit onto any electrical box; the light is then affixed to the bracket. Flush-mounted lights sit directly against the ceiling rather than hanging down, which is the preferred configuration in bathrooms. Make sure the fixture you get is a little wider than the old one, so it will completely cover the previously covered ceiling area, avoiding the need to retouch paint.

  • How to Charge Versapak Batteries

A Versapak battery is a cylindrical, rechargeable battery that is used in many electric power tools. There are two different kinds of Versapak batteries and each requires its own charger. However, once you have the charger, you'll find that charging the battery is almost the same kind of process as charging a cellular phone battery.

  • How to Prune a Willow Acacia

A fast-growing tree native to Australia but prized by gardeners living in desert regions, the willow acacia (Acacia salicina) grows 20 to 40 feet tall with a semi-weeping habit about 10 to 20 feet wide. Needing a sunny location with well-drained soil, willow acacia intermittently flowers year-round but most heavily in fall and winter months. It doesn't require frequent pruning maintenance to have good structure, but occasionally trimming branches increases the tree's ability to handle strong winds. Grow this drought- and heat-tolerant tree in U.S. Department of Agriculture Plant Hardiness Zones 9 and warmer.

  • How to Install Semi-Flush Lights

Semi-flush lighting ranges from fixtures with globes that slightly separate from the fixture base to chandeliers with multi-faceted globes that hang as much as several feet from the base of the fixture. For more on the differences, see "Ceiling Lights: Flush and Semi-Flush Mounts" in the Resource section of this article. Read all the literature that comes with your semi-flush light fixture before beginning the installation. This will save time and aggravation.
