The Ferrari F1 racing team can trace it origins to Enzo Ferrari -- the founder of the famed high-performance racing and luxury sports car manufacturer -- organizing a racing team for Alfa Romeo for the 1920 Targa Florio race. The Alfa Romeo factory was destroyed in bombing raids during World War II, and Ferrari struck out on his own to develop a race car that exceed Alfa's initial brilliant performances on the track.
