No matter what type of riding you do or which breed of horse you own, creating a proper pasture is important. Installing an electric fence is one of the cheapest and most effective options, but it can be difficult to install that type of fence when there is no electrical outlet present. If you live in a remote area, or if there are no outdoor electrical outlets near the fence line, a solar electric fence can be an excellent alternative.
Many materials are available for building horse fencing, ranging from the traditional wood fence to wire, but be sure to consider several factors before making a selection. Among those considerations are visibility, safety, initial cost and durability. The location of the fence---perimeter or paddock---may also limit the choices.
Mesh fencing is an inexpensive and safe fence for horses and can last for twenty years with proper maintenance. Mesh fences' flexibility is an advantage when an excited horses hits the fence, as it gives without hurting the horse or breaking.
