GFCI Outlets
-
In order to meet building codes in most areas, kitchen outlets must be ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets. This type of outlet protects you from electric shock when there is a current change in the electrical system. These can be identified by the two small buttons located between the two sections of plug slots.
Resetting the Current
-
To get the outlets working again, press the "Reset" button on the outlet. Often, all kitchen outlets are connected and pressing one button will reset the rest. Otherwise, press each button in turn.

Breaker Boxes
-
If the outlets still aren't receiving power, check your breaker box. Locate the breaker for the kitchen and flip it back to the "On" position. Press the outlet "Reset" button again and test it for power.
