Both toaster ovens and regular ovens have the same purpose: to cook our food. When deciding which appliance to purchase, it's smart to review the features and to be aware of the differences in temperature control to determine which one works best for you.
While there are differences in toaster ovens and standard kitchen ovens, they generally work with the same principles and have the same purpose. Both ovens can bake, broil and have convection features. The temperatures are fairly similar with slight variations.
Regular Oven Temperatures
Regular oven temperatures usually run from about 200 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a warming temperature, to as high as 500 degrees F, which works best for roasting. The manufacturer's manual should be consulted for a complete temperature guide as ovens will vary by brand.
Toaster Oven Temperature
A toaster oven heats up and cooks faster than a regular oen because of its smaller size. Cooking time and temperature may vary from recipe directions for conventional ovens. The "warming" function temperature on a toaster oven may be as low as 130 F., though baking and broiling temperatures may be as high as 500 F as is the case with regular ovens.
