Recreational vehicles, or RVs, offer mobility with all the comforts of home -- including keeping the RV warm on cold nights. A properly sized blower motor -- which can be indicated by its wattage rating -- contributes to a reliable RV furnace system.
A blower motor provides power to the RV's furnace air blower. The air blower sends a preset volume of air into a burn chamber, igniting the main burner for warmth. The blower motor's wattage value should provide enough power for constant air movement through the furnace system.
The typical blower motor is rated at 250 watts or 1/3 horsepower. This wattage is sufficient for an average-sized RV. A much larger RV may require a blower motor with a higher wattage value.
Routine inspections of the furnace system, including the blower motor, are imperative for comfort and safety. Verify that the blower motor's wiring is free from damage and that its assembly has enough space surrounding it for air circulation. Proper external air circulation prevents motor overheating.
