GM Radio Circuit Board Problems
Car radio systems add a form of audio entertainment for long road trips. General Motors, or GM, manufactures many different vehicles with common stock radios. A stock radio can have circuit board problems.
-
Identification
-
GM installs Delco radios within its vehicles. Each radio comes with a cassette deck, compact disc player, or a cassette/CD combination. Each radio type has a printed circuit board, or PCB. A radio cannot function without a PCB.
Considerations
-
PCB problems become apparent to the consumer when cassettes and CDs will not play in the radio assembly, or are even ejected unexpectedly. Audio and Video Service Stop states that the PCB requires a rebuild of its traces, or tracks, and components for a reliable radio system.
-
Effects
-
The CD laser optic eye is another problem associated with failure of a PCB. If the PCB's components do not communicate correctly with the eye, this will cause CDs to skip or stop playing completely. Replace the laser eye along with the circuit board.
