Electric Cylindrical Lockset Installation
Many businesses use electronic access cards for entry into secured rooms. Typically, a user slides a card into a reader that activates a doorknob's electric cylindrical lockset. Installation of the lockset requires precise alignment for a secure locking connection.

Identification
-
An electric cylindrical lockset resembles a lever doorknob but has wiring within the door's assembly for connection to the power source. Most commonly, the lockset also attaches to an electronic card reader. The lockset will disengage for access to the area beyond the door once the reader determines the card's authenticity.
Installation
-
Place and bolt the lockset's latch mechanism in the door. Align the strike, or receiving plate, on the doorframe with the center of the latch. Verify that the lockset's wiring is not pinched when bolting the doorknob lever to the door. Attach the wiring to the card reader according to the manufacturer's instructions.
-
Considerations
-
Power to the lockset can either be supplied from battery power or hard-wired into the building's electrical system, depending on the manufacturer's configuration. Test the locking mechanism to ensure a solid connection between the latch and the strike. An intruder could bypass the lockset if it does not latch completely into the doorframe's strike.
