How to Compare Car Polish
Car polishes remove imperfections from vehicle paintwork and assist in providing a shiny finish that can be sealed with a protective wax. There are many types of car polish from which to choose and use at different stages of a detailing project.
-
Heavy Cutting
-
Vehicles that have sustained heavy levels of weathering or swirl marks benefit from heavy cutting products. It can be beneficial to de-nib the working surface first before using a heavy cutting polish in conjunction with a polishing machine to restore paintwork to a factory shine.
Intermediate Cutting
-
An intermediate cutting polish can be used by hand or with a machine to restore paintwork compromised by general wear-and-tear, car washes and light superficial scratching.
-
Light Cutting
-
To remove fine swirl marks and provide an excellent gloss finish, light cutting polishes should be used. They are good at reducing halo effects and can be applied by hand with clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
Establishing Requirments
-
A thorough vehicle inspection is recommended before polishing takes place. If heavy cutting is present, it can be prudent to purchase a range of materials of the same brand to ensure compatibility and the process can then incorporate the use of intermediate and light cutting products to produce a final finish.
