Enamel Paint Information

Enamel paints are functional, multipurpose, and dry to shiny finishes that are hard-wearing and easy to clean. Because of their practicality, they are a popular choice for many projects.

Constituents

Enamel paint contains solvents, binders, fillers and pigments. Solvents are added to dissolve the binders, which are liquid polymers that bind the pigments to the other ingredients. Pigments contain the coloring and can be natural or synthetic. The fillers help produce the consistency of the paint by adding volume and support.

Uses

Enamel paint is used as an all-purpose, hard-wearing paint surface product. It is often used outdoors because it is waterproof, and in areas of high wear such as floors and in areas that have variances in temperature such as barbecues and refrigerators.

Variations

Enamel paints come in latex and oil-based varieties. Depending on the constituents, the paint can dry to a high-gloss, a semigloss or a satin finish.
