Function

There are a variety of different motor speed control devices for a 110-volt motor. Some have a basic stop-and-start button, only allowing the motor to run at one speed. Others offer variable speed controls to decrease or increase the pace, as determined by the worker.

Considerations

Specialized motor speed control devices are controlled with a foot pedal. The pedal allows the worker's hands to be free so that they can continue working while controlling the pace, such as for polishing or finishing items like knives.
