Parabolic Vs. Quartz Heater

With rising costs of natural gas, people are turning to electric space heaters to heat smaller homes.

Two of the most popular designs in space heaters are parabolic space heaters and radiant quartz space heaters. Depending on your specific situation you may prefer a parabolic space heater or a radiant quartz space heater.

Cost

Radiant space heaters are almost always less expensive than parabolic space heaters.

Heating Material

In a radiant quartz space heater quartz tubes convert electricity to heat, while in parabolic space heaters ceramic is the converting material.

Safety

Parabolic space heaters have a larger area of converting material than radiant quartz heaters, and as such operate at lower temperatures to achieve the same amount of heat. The lower temperatures of parabolic space heaters make them a generally safer choice.

Efficiency

Radiant space heaters and parabolic heaters are very similar in efficiency, and any specific differences are based on the individual model's design.
